One of the academic staff of İstanbul Gelişim University, RA Erdem Türkavcı’s article has been published. The article co-authored by RA Erdem Türkavcı (Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences - Department of Radio, Television and Cinema) and Dr. Ürün Yıldıran Önk (Yaşar University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema) was published in Pamukkale University Social Sciences Institute Journal.
The study examines the phenomenon of lumpenism, which Marx put forward to define classless, apolitical individuals who lack class consciousness, through local comedy films produced since the 1960s. The study aims to reveal the changing representation of lumpenism as a result of social conditions in local comedy cinema through the heroes that are constructed as lumpens in the narrative of films. In the study, in which narrative analysis was preferred, films with at least one lumpen hero in their narrative were examined by dividing them into four sections (Predecessor Lumpens, Post-80s, New Turkish Cinema, and recent local comedy) in line with the social conditions of the times they were screened.
