As an academic member of Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences - Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, RA Erdem Türkavcı's short film “The Subject”, directed and written by Erdem, will compete at the 21th Sarno Film Festival and 3rd Kalakari Film Festival. 21th Sarno Film Festival is organized by the Cinema and Cultural Rights Association in Italy. 3rd Kalakari Film Festival will be in the Indian state of West Bengal.
The Subject is about the bullying of a young man named Eren who wants to become a Youtuber by opening a Youtube channel about art house cinema. In a short film that touches on a current issue, Eren who wants to get rid of her sadness, manages to attract attention with a fake news he announced on his social media account. Eren who wants to be a powerful subject instead of being a lonely object of the new media, actually aims to mirror the bullying in social media with the little game he organized.
The film makes reference to Michel Foucault's "Subject and Power" in its title and story. The duration of the film is five minutes. The national and international film festivals where the film competed are: 8th Kayseri Film Festival, 12th International Inter University Short Film Festival, Lisbon Film Rendezvous, Asian Cinematography AWARDS (ACA), The Lift-Off Sessions, The Cut Film Series, First-Time Filmmaker Sessions .
