The 3rd Sociology Days was successfully carried out.

The 3rd IGU Sociology Days, the third installment of the traditionalized events organized by Istanbul Gelişim University, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, was held with intense participation on Thursday, June 4, 2026, under the main theme of "Rethinking Everyday Life Through Sociological Imagination."Launched with the mottos "Look through sociology, understand the world" and "From objects to identities, from emotions to the digital world; we think about sociology together!", this comprehensive event achieved great success, drawing significant interest from students, academics, and distinguished guests. The day-long program offered participants the opportunity to deeply re-analyze everyday life practices from a sociological perspective, examine current social issues through a scientific lens, and enrich their academic knowledge through interactive workshops.

The official opening of the program commenced with the opening speech by Prof. Dr. Kamil Kaya. Immediately following the opening, the first scientific session of the day, titled "The Story of Objects: Sociological Perspectives on Everyday Life," was held. In this first session, chaired by Kübra Arslan; Berkant Şimşek, Rojin Doğa Saygı, Fatma Nur Coşkun, and İrem Nur Sarı shared the place of objects in human life and the sociological realm of meaning behind the scenes of daily life with the participants. Following this academic intensity, a live music performance provided the audience with enjoyable moments, creating an artistic atmosphere in the hall, which was followed by a break allowing 12 participants to socialize.

The second half of the day began with a special event blending literature and academic analysis. A highly productive book interview titled "Babasının Kızları" (Daddy's Daughters) was conducted with Fatma Çelik. Right after this insightful interview, an interactive workshop called "Sociological Comic Book Desk: Drawing Sociological Concepts" was carried out, where participants showcased their creativity, bringing theoretical concepts together with visual arts. The afternoon's academic-weighted segment, Session II, titled "Everyday Life on the Axis of Identity, Emotions, and Digitalization," was chaired by İrem Nur Sarı. In this session:

• İrem Nisa Terleç presented her work titled "The Transforming Identity of Kurtuluş: A Qualitative Research on the Migration Experiences, Cultural Continuity, and Belonging of the Armenian Community,"

• Sinem Altaş delivered her presentation on "The Sociological Analysis of Future Anxiety: Emotions, Fear, and Social Pressure,"

• Kardelen Fidan Özdemir shared her research on "Women's Perceptions of Ideal Relationships,"

• İlkay Susuz presented "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence-Based Digital Applications on Individual Everyday Life Practices and Behaviors: The Case of 'Common People'", revealing the social reflections of a digitalizing and transforming world.

As the event neared its conclusion, a workshop focusing on one of the most vital cornerstones of sociological literature, "Book Workshop: Discussing C. Wright Mills' Sociological Imagination," was held, re-evaluating the links between personal troubles and public issues together with the participants. This academic marathon, completed with great excitement and productivity, concluded with the award ceremony for the "Story of Objects Poster Competition Results" and the subsequent closing remarks. With this successful organization, Istanbul Gelişim University's Department of Sociology reaffirmed its mission to understand society in the light of science, demonstrating that it will continue to contribute to the academic world through its traditionalized Sociology Days events in the coming years.
