The Department’s Micro-Credential Approach:

Whether the focus of micro-credential programs is artificial intelligence or sustainability, sociology brings the societal impact of the knowledge provided to light. Furthermore, by connecting technological and technical developments with social realities, it equips students with critical and society-oriented thinking skills. In this way, micro-credentials transition from being narrow programs focused on a specific field into programs that encompass the societal impacts of these credentials as well.

Why this module/these modules?
It is critical importance to identify, examine and analyze the societal reflections of developments such as the advancement of artificial intelligence alongside digitalization, as well as structural shifts in communication and working life. Therefore, the “Digitalization and Society” module -one of the modules in the micro-credential system- will make significant contributions to the field and to students in identifying these developments and their implications.

• Analyzes the impacts of artificial intelligence on humans, organizational culture and social structure in the process of digitalization.

• Manages ethical risks by gaining awareness of digital ethics, digital rights and data privacy.

Based on the Digitalization and Society module, our department’s micro-credential program offers a holistic curriculum focusing on the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence through the lens of societal impact, changes in working life and human relations and human rights in a digitalizing society. Blending key subjects such as artificial intelligence, organizational sociology, human rights and digital ethics, this program delivers content that directly addresses the rapidly evolving structure of social and corporate life. Consequently, the program provides students with a comprehensive perspective on the changes driven by digitalization and artificial intelligence technology across social and corporate domains, as well as the consequences of these changes.
