Istanbul Gelisim University Sociology Club invited “Civil Woman” book writer Prof. Dr. Ömer Çaha, who is a member of Political Science and International Relations Department of Sabahattin Zaim University.
After the opening speech on the event held on 06.03.2018, Prof. Dr. Ömer Çaha was invited to the chair to perform his speech. Starting with an evaluation of the rights granted to women during the Ottoman period to speak, Çaha continued with the achievements of women with the Republic.
Referring to the development and transformation of women's movements from the 1960s to the 2000s, Çaha emphasized the importance of the effects of gender roles on women and involvement women in to civil society. After this he made comparisons between European countries and Turkey. Çaha has also talked about the "glass ceiling" syndrome, which is one of the problems faced by women in business life.
At the event on equality, women's values and importance were emphasized, and the March 8, World Labor Woman's Day was highlighted.
