The Serbian government announced that this practice will contribute to the economy of both countries and increase the mutual tourist ratio. Serbia, which is not a member of the European Union, has the status of a candidate country like Turkey.
With the start of the application, the number of countries where Turkish citizens can travel with their ID will increase to six. Until today, it was possible to travel to Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus with an ID. People who want to travel to these countries with an ID card do not need to issue a passport and pay an additional fee for this, but they need to get an international fee stamp at the border gate and fill out an exit form.
Since the passport is not stamped during entry into the country, the entry document issued by the customs officers must also be kept until they return.
