In the first five months of 2024, the number of visitors to Türkiye increased by 12.47% compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 17,809,000. Of these, 15,784,000 were foreign visitors, while 2,024,000 were Turkish citizens visiting from abroad.
In May 2024 alone, the number of foreign visitors to Türkiye rose by 14% compared to May 2023, reaching 5,130,000.
Germany topped the list of countries sending the most tourists to Türkiye in the January-May period of 2024. In May, the Russian Federation ranked first with a 15.32% increase and 739,000 visitors, followed by Germany with an 18.12% increase and 729,000 visitors, and the United Kingdom with a 21.62% increase and 550,000 visitors. Bulgaria and Poland followed these countries respectively.
In the ranking of countries sending the most visitors to Türkiye in the first five months of the year, Germany ranked first with a 16.20% increase and 1,122,000 visitors. The Russian Federation followed with 1,078,000 visitors, and Iran ranked third with a 51.78% increase and 946,000 visitors. Bulgaria and the United Kingdom also featured in this ranking.
