Turkey's name in the international arena changed
As a branding move in the international arena, Turkey started to work on a name change last December. In January 2022, the Directorate of Communications released a promotional film called "Hello Türkiye".
At the beginning of June, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu sent a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, officially demanding that Turkey's name in foreign languages be used as "Türkiye" instead of "Turkey". The UN spokesperson announced that Turkey's application was approved and the name "Turkey", which is used internationally, was changed to "Türkiye".
