Organized to encourage interdisciplinary studies on the Balkans in the field of social sciences and to contribute to qualified and original academic production, the 1st International Balkan Studies Congress was held in Skopje between 17-19 September 2021. The congress, which was held with the support of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, started with the opening speeches after the congratulatory messages of the president of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop. In the congress, undergraduate, graduate, doctoral students and researchers who have just completed their doctorate from 8 countries (Kosovo, Albania, Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Poland, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Serbia) made their presentations.
The symposium, in which Remzi Soytürk, one of the research assistants of our department, also attended with his statement titled "Chronotope in the Novel of The Bridge on the Drina by Ivo Andric", ended after the North Macedonia tour.
