As a result of the decision taken at the 40th General Conference of UNESCO held on 12-27 November 2019, "700th Anniversary of Yunus Emre's Death" has been included in the 2021 UNESCO Anniversaries of Commemoration and Celebration. Following this, the year 2021 was declared as "Yunus Emre and Turkish Year" with the circular issued by our Presidency.
Thereupon, Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences organized an award-winning short story competition. The competition subjects, organized by the IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department, are "tolerance, dedication, patience, and love," which are the essential components of Yunus Emre's philosophy.
12th-grade students of secondary education institutions will apply with their school IDs. The application deadline is
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021, and the results of the competition will be announced on November 20, 2021. The award ceremony will take place on December 11, 2021. As a result of the competition, the first winner will receive 3000TL and a certificate of achievement, the second will receive a 2000TL and certificate of achievement, and the third will receive a 1000TL and certificate of achievement. Other nominees in the top ten will receive a book award.
