 Assoc. Prof. Hacer Gülşen Wrote: “Yahya Kemal and the Lord of the Rings”


The article titled "Yahya Kemal and the Lord of the Rings", written by Hacer Gülşen, Head of IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department, has been added to the "Articles" tab on the department's website.


In this article she wrote, Hacer Gülşen captures a romantic connection between the Lord of the Rings, the film series that won Oscars in many branches, based on the poem "Mehlika Sultan" by the famous poet Yahya Kemal Beyatlı. Gulsen, who deals with the fact that seven young people who are in love with Mehlika Sultan set off on the road in the hope of finding her one night and migrate to the world of dreams without achieving this goal, relates the youngest of the young people taking the ring out of his finger into the well they came from and the scene at the end of the famous movie series. According to Gülşen, Yahya Kemal appears before the reader as the master of the ring, who long ago became familiar with the secret of poetry and the journey this secret takes people to.
