As the most important testament to Kaşgarlı Mahmut's service to the Turkish language and the first dictionary of the Turkish language, Dîvânu Lugâti’t-Türk is of great importance in that it encompasses the vocabulary of the Turkish language and the grammatical rules of the written language of the time, as well as the detailed characteristics of Turkish communities. This masterpiece, which was dedicated to the Turkish world by Kaşgarlı Mahmut, comprehensively reflects the richness, diversity, and historical depth of the Turkish language. In addition to being a dictionary, the work is an encyclopedic work that delves into Turkish history, geography, mythology, and folklore. Therefore, UNESCO's declaration of 2024 as the year of Dîvânu Lugâti’t-Türk, in the 950th year of its writing, emerges as a significant step for the Turkish language and culture.
