 Turkish Language and Literature Department Organized Two Events for the Acceptance of the Turkish National Anthem and the Victory of Çanakkale


The Acceptance of Turkish National Anthem and Çanakkale Martyrs were commemorated with two separate events organized by the IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department.


As part of the Acceptance of the Turkish National Anthem and the Memorial Day of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, an event called Mehmet Akif and the Acceptance of the Turkish National Anthem was organized by the IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department. The event was held online on the Google Meet platform between 14:00-15:00 on Thursday, March 16. In the event, Head of IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hacer Gülşen was the speaker. At the beginning of her speech, Gülşen discussed the literary personality of Mehmet Âkif Ersoy and the struggles of the great poet for Turkish independence, and later on, she touched on the writing process of our National Anthem in detail. The event ended after the participants' comments and questions were received.
 

The second event organized by the Turkish Language and Literature Department was held on the occasion of "18 March Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Day". The event, titled Examination of Mehmet Akif Ersoy's Poem "Çanakkale Şehitlerine" Through the Concepts of "Martyr" and "Martyrdom" was held online on the Google Meet platform on Thursday, March 23, between 14:00-15:00. At the event, one of the academicians of the Turkish Language and Literature Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Elife Ateş became a speaker. The event, which started with the reading of Mehmet Âkif Ersoy's poem "Çanakkale Martyrs", continued with the analysis of the poem by Elife Ateş. In her speech, Ateş dealt with the concepts of "martyr" and "martyrdom" in depth, and made important analyzes on the background of the use of these concepts in poetry. The event ended after the participants' comments and questions were received.
