One of the most famous poets of Turkish literature is undoubtedly Yahya Kemal Beyatlı. IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department organized an event about Yahya Kemal, one of the most important representatives of Turkish poetry in the Republican era, within the scope of TDE219 New Turkish Literature I course. The event was held on Friday, December 9, in classroom 342 with the participation of IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department students. In the event themed "Istanbul and Yahya Kemal", the life and works of the famous poet were introduced in the presentation made by Hacer Gülşen, the coordinator of the related course. The main theme of the event was Yahya Kemal's "As long as I live, my heart is set on my throne as you please! Even loving a plain neighborhood is worth a lifetime.” The meaning and importance of "Saint Istanbul", as he describes it in his own lines, was for the poet
