The year 2021 has been included in the commemoration and celebration anniversaries by UNESCO on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of Yunus Emre, one of the most important figures of Turkish language and Turkish culture. Then, with the Circular published by the Presidency, 2021 was declared as "Yunus Emre and Turkish Language Year". To this end, a short story competition titled "Living like Yunus in the 21st Century" was organized by the IGU FFA Department of Turkish Language and Literature for "Yunus Emre and the Year of Turkish Language".
The winner was awarded with 3000 TL, the second with 2000 TL and the third with 1000 TL. The winner of the competition was Özgenur Güner, the 2nd Ömer Uzun and the 3rd Elif Kübra Bıçakçı. The award ceremony of the competition was held online on Monday, December 13, 2021, between 20:00 and 21:00. IGU FEASBF Deputy Dean Asst. Prof Yeşim Koçyiğit, faculty members and students of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, the winners of the competition, their teachers and families attended.
The award ceremony started with the presentation of the IGU Turkish Language and Literature Department's promotional video. It continued with the speeches of IGU FEAS Deputy Dean Assistant Professor Yeşim Koçyiğit and Head of Turkish Language and Literature Department Assistant Professor Pelin Ekşi. In the second part of the ceremony, the winners of the competition read their stories.
