Assoc. Prof. Taylan Maral’s Article Published in the Palestine Special Issue of the Communication and Diplomacy Journal
The 14th issue of the Communication and Diplomacy journal published by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications has met with readers as the “Palestine Special Issue.” The main theme of the issue is Israel’s oppression of Palestine.
The special issue includes many original articles from different disciplines on the Palestinian issue. Cansu Kaya’s work titled “On the Poetics of Identity, War and Space in the Novel Mornings in Cenin” draws attention with its literary analyses; Özgür Başyiğit focuses on economic dimensions in his article titled “The Economic Terror Applied to Palestinians by the Zionist Regime and the Right to Work.”
The article titled “The Palestine Issue After the Al-Aqsa Flood: Reflections of the Global Struggle for Dominance” written by Hikmet Mengüaslan addresses the geopolitical effects of the conflict. Hüseyin Serbes discusses the relationship between art and memory in his work titled “Are You Still Alive?: Survival Politics, Art and Mourning in the Visualization of Palestine”.
Our New Media and Communication Department Head Taylan Maral analyzes how the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is framed in Sabah and Sözcü newspapers with his article titled “The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict in the News Frames of Sabah and Sözcü Newspapers”; Ayşegül Ayıldız Asil, Abdurrahman Asil and Hülya Çatal examine the violations of Palestinian children’s right to education through national agency news. Barış Ertem’s article titled “Zionism, the Establishment of the State of Israel and the Jewish/Israeli Policy of the Republic of Turkey” based on archive documents offers a historical perspective.
Gökhan Tekir’s articles titled “The Nexus of the Crisis: IMEC Initiative on the Axis of the Gaza Conflict” and Serkan Aycil’s “A Study on the Palestine-Israel Prisoner Exchange Agreement” are among the other noteworthy content of the issue.
