“Describe Your Film in One Sentence: Logline Writing Workshop” Held by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema
The “Describe Your Film in One Sentence: Logline Writing Workshop,” organized by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema within the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences at Istanbul Gelişim University, was held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in classroom J–354. The event was conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Erdem Türkavcı.
The workshop was designed to help students developing film and television projects summarize their stories in the most effective way. In the first part of the event, participants learned about the concept of logline, the structural elements required for a strong logline, and narrative formulas centered on conflict and character.
Later, logline examples compiled from various local and international films and TV series were analyzed, allowing participants to explore how narrative structure can be made more concise and impactful. Through exercises in which they wrote alternative loglines for existing productions, students had the opportunity to further develop their creative perspectives.
In the practical section, participants created loglines for their own short film projects, working on crafting the most compelling single-sentence version of the stories they aimed to tell. The workshop concluded with a Q&A and evaluation session.
The event made a significant contribution to the project development processes of Radio, Television and Cinema students, strengthening their creative writing and storytelling skills.
