Assoc. Prof. Dr. Başak Özarslan, Faculty Member of the Department of International Trade and Business and Director of SCTUAM, Represented Istanbul Gelisim University at the XII Nuclear Power Plants Summit
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Başak Özarslan, a faculty member in the Department of International Trade and Business and Director of the Sustainable Environment and Society Application and Research Center (SCTUAM) at Istanbul Gelisim University, participated as a speaker in an international panel held as part of the XII Nuclear Power Plants Summit (NPPES 2026). The summit was hosted by Istanbul Technical University (ITU) with the support of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, in cooperation with the Ankara Chamber of Industry and NIATR.
During the panel session titled "Road to COP31: The Indispensable Role of Nuclear Energy in Achieving Global Net-Zero Goals," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Başak Özarslan joined international experts in discussing the role of nuclear energy in achieving global net-zero emissions targets, the COP31 process, the transformation of energy policies, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
In her remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Başak Özarslan emphasized the critical role of universities in generating knowledge, shaping policies, and strengthening collaboration among stakeholders in the fields of sustainability, energy transition, and climate policy. Through her participation, she successfully represented Istanbul Gelisim University on an international platform.
