The article titled ‘Innovative Contributions of Space Research to Other Sectors: Recommendations for Technology Policy Makers’ by Assoc. Prof. Ayşe Meriç Yazıcı was published in the Journal of Aviation.

The study examines how technological advances achieved through space exploration can be transferred to different sectors and what role policymakers play in this process. Space exploration offers effective solutions in many areas, from innovative materials to artificial intelligence, robotic systems to data processing capacity. In this context, space technologies are examined with concrete examples, especially in terms of their contribution to strategic sectors such as energy, health, agriculture, communication and defense.

The study is also gaining importance with the suggestions it brings to policy makers. First of all, policy makers need to adopt innovative solutions that emerge as a result of space research and support adaptation processes. It is emphasized that incentives to be offered for the transfer of innovative technologies can strengthen intersectoral cooperation and accelerate the spread of new technologies. Finally, it is evaluated that the establishment of cooperation platforms between the public and private sectors can increase the sharing of technological knowledge and contribute to the development of the innovation ecosystem.
