 Advertising Department Sees the Future and Has an Open Front.


Our Department's Faculty Member, Seyra KESTEL, was the guest of the live broadcast titled "New Trends in Advertising and Public Relations" within the scope of IGU FEAS Preference and Promotion Days.


On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at 13:00, in the live broadcast, under the moderation of our faculty's Vice Dean and Asst. Prof. Yeşim KOÇYİĞİT, with the guests of Asst. Prof. Esra TUNÇAY from the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, and Asst. Prof. Seyra KESTEL from the Department of Advertising. The topic of “New Trends in Public Relations” was discussed.
Talking about how businesses benefit from the advertising sector in order to increase the sales volume and profitability of products and services, Kestel touched upon the new trends in advertising.

Treating advertising under two headings, traditional advertising and internet advertising created through new media tools, Kestel focused on internet advertising. Talking about two sub-dimensions of internet advertising, creativity and innovation, Kestel emphasized that in today's consumer society, individuals are frequently exposed to advertisements and advertising is very important in this context.

She stated that as the Advertising Department, it is aimed to train experts in the field of advertising in order to meet the need for creative and well-equipped individuals in global and national contexts, and training is provided in this direction.

“As in other branches of communication, advertising is an interdisciplinary field. Our students have the opportunity to specialize by taking the courses they are interested in from different departments within our faculty or from our departmental elective courses. For example; by taking courses on advertising specializations such as advertising psychology and political advertising, they can gain equipment at the point of specialization”, says Kestel; she also stated that the curriculum of the department has theoretical and applied courses. She stated that students can also take elective courses from the fields of interest within the scope of the department and faculty.

Explaining the relationship between artificial intelligence, new media and advertising, Kestel said that the benefits of technology take place in almost every area of life and that there are developments in this direction in the field of advertising. As the Advertising Department; she added that the curriculum was arranged in line with the innovations in the dynamic advertising industry.

Kestel stated that our students, who can contribute to their personal equipment with Double Major and Minor opportunities, have the opportunity to experience different countries and cultures with Erasmus programs in today's world where the boundaries in terms of marketing and advertising are lifted. In Koçyiğit; she explained that advertisements emphasizing the meanings and values of societies draw attention and that the Erasmus program will contribute to our students at this point.

Kestel said, “The graduates of our department can work in newspapers, magazines, television institutions and organizations within the scope of mass media; in advertising agencies, press agencies; in non-governmental organizations; they can work in advertising, social media and public relations departments of private companies. They can provide advice in the political field. They can pursue an academic career. Advertising; it is a department that sees the future and has an open future” and also touched on the job opportunities of the Advertising Department.
