An Inspiring Conversation on Artificial Intelligence and Advertising: Coffee Talks Event

The Coffee Talks event was held on October 22, 2025, between 12:00 and 13:00 by the Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Department of Advertising, with the participation of Dr. İpek Işılay under the title “The Use of Artificial Intelligence Studies in the Field of Advertising.” The event focused on the role of artificial intelligence in the advertising sector, its effects, and future tendencies.

Purpose of the Event
The primary aim of the event was to help advertising students understand artificial intelligence not only as a technical tool but also as a creative and strategic component. Additionally, the event aimed to raise awareness of how artificial intelligence can be used in marketing, content production, targeting, and data analytics processes. Thus, students were encouraged to follow current developments in the industry and better prepare themselves for the future landscape of advertising.

Activities During the Event
During the session, Dr. İpek Işılay explained, with examples, how artificial intelligence plays a transformative role in strategic planning, target audience analysis, content creation, and data-driven decision-making processes in advertising. An interactive session was held with participating students; real advertising campaigns were analyzed, and the contributions of artificial intelligence to these campaigns were discussed. Moreover, ideas were exchanged about the ethical use of artificial intelligence, the importance of human touch in creative processes, and new business models introduced by technology.

Impact on Students
The event enabled students to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge. Participants had the opportunity to evaluate artificial intelligence not only as a technological innovation but also as a paradigm shaping the future of advertising. Students expressed that combining innovative approaches in the industry with an academic perspective broadened their professional vision. The Coffee Talks event strengthened students’ abilities in creative thinking, critical analysis, and conscious use of technology.
Within the framework of Istanbul Gelisim University’s student-centered educational approach, this Coffee Talks event once again proved to be an important platform that supports innovative thinking, encourages knowledge sharing, and enhances academic development in the fields of communication and advertising.
