 The Talk “The Past, Present, and Future of Advertising” Attracted Great Interest


The Department of Advertising at Istanbul Gelisim University, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, hosted the distinguished advertising professional Haluk Mesci at the online talk titled “The Past, Present, and Future of Advertising” on November 10, 2025. The event, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yelda Ülker, received great interest from both students and academics. The session offered valuable insights into the history, current state, and future direction of the advertising sector.


During the talk, Haluk Mesci shared his extensive industry experience, presenting a comprehensive overview of how advertising has evolved from its early periods to the present day. He discussed the rise of traditional media, the golden age of television commercials, and the impact of digitalization on consumer behavior and communication strategies. Mesci also illustrated these changes with examples from significant campaigns and sectoral turning points.

Emphasizing that creativity has always remained at the heart of advertising, Mesci pointed out the increasing importance of data-driven marketing, AI-supported content production, and personalized communication strategies in today’s advertising landscape. He highlighted that the future of advertising will be shaped by more interactive, technology-driven, and user experience-oriented approaches.
Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to directly engage with one of the most influential figures in the industry. Haluk Mesci answered participants’ questions sincerely and offered practical recommendations regarding career planning, creative teamwork, brand management, and workflow within advertising agencies.

This high-value event organized by the Advertising Department contributed significantly to students’ sectoral awareness and strengthened their creative perspectives. It was widely regarded as an important academic gathering that bridged theoretical knowledge with real-world industry expertise.
