Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Gül Yılmaz Evaluated the Possible Effects of the UK Government Change on Turkish Foreign Trade in a Television Program

Based on currently available information, Yılmaz stated that no major change is expected in the UK's foreign trade policy, and that no short-term changes are anticipated in borrowing limits or tax policies either. Highlighting the UK's importance for Türkiye, Yılmaz noted that the UK is Türkiye's second-largest export market and also holds a significant share in Türkiye's imports.

Recalling that Minister of State for Trade Chris Bryant has stated the goal of doubling bilateral trade volume between the two countries in the coming years, Yılmaz drew attention to the UK government's policy of strengthening local producers. According to Yılmaz, even if there is no significant change in trade volume in the short term, a potential market loss for Türkiye could emerge in the medium to long term as local producers grow stronger over time.
