The Language, Thought, and Literature Club, operating under the umbrella of the Turkish Language and Literature Department at IGU, hosted the event. The event, titled "A Conversation with Author Ömür İklim Demir on His Work 'Muhtelif Evhamlar Kitabı' and His Writing Journey," took place online via the Google Meet platform on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 21:00 to 22:30. Participants included faculty members, students from various departments of IGU, as well as academicians and enthusiasts from outside the university.
Moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Şerefnur Atik, the advisor of the Language, Thought, and Literature Club, the conversation proceeded in a question-and-answer format after brief opening remarks. Ömür İklim Demir provided candid answers to questions from academicians and students about his writing journey and works. The author emphasized that it cannot be claimed that a writer's shadow never falls on their work, acknowledging that traces of himself may be found in the characters of his works, albeit not intensely. Ömür İklim Demir mentioned taking occasional breaks from writing, stating that these periods contributed to a sense of alienation from the text and added a critical perspective to the writing process. Offering advice to aspiring young writers, Ömür İklim Demir recommended them to be "determined and persistent." During the conversation, the author shared uplifting news with the audience, revealing that he is working on a new novel. He hinted that the upcoming work would lean towards the crime genre, featuring elements of mystery and Istanbul.
