In the first part of the talk, Public Relations Specialist and Trainer Adem Baltacı provided information about artificial intelligence. Within the meaning of artificial intelligence, he asked questions to the participants and determined what artificial intelligence meant for them. Baltacı emphasized the use of artificial intelligence after the meaning of artificial intelligence. He said: “Artificial intelligence is used in all kinds of products, from telephones to computers and robots”. He said that the mobile phones perceive the sound even if they are shut down and advertisements appear on telephone based on mutual talks between individuals. After that, Baltacı focused on the distinction between individuals and artificial intelligence. He said: “We have no similar in the world. We are all unique. We all have different habits, but artificial intelligence does not have such characteristics. Why is artificial intelligence popular? Because it does not have any physical necessities to survive.” He stated that artificial intelligence has a greater potential than human being.
In the second part of the talk, Baltacı focused on the development of artificial intelligence and what the world and humanity would become. He had a pessimistic framework about artificial intelligence and said that artificial intelligence will not create beneficial results for humanity. He said that “Humanity will end by artificial intelligence” and that there will no positive results for humanity. He focused that by asking “Who cares the threat posed by artificial intelligence?”, the problems that will be caused by artificial intelligence do not attract sufficient attention and only the benefits of artificial intelligence are focused. In this context, Baltacı raised the question: "artificial intelligence to develop humanity, but what is the limit of this development?”. He said that people do not know the meaning of being robots, as robots do not know what it means to be human, saying that robots can create a new order. He added: “Robots can even create their own language. For instance, could the robots have a religion?”. Baltacı claimed that robots could destroy traditional structures. He said that as human beings we believe that being a human is a good thing despite every limitation, and emotions are very important. We believe that we are the most beautiful creatures of our time and that robots have no feelings,. He also explained that the concept of time can disappear with artificial intelligence.
The third part of the talk was shaped by the question: “What could the future of cinema and public relations be with the impact of artificial intelligence?”ç Baltacı said that there will be fundamental changes in the disciplines of public relations and cinema. He said that artificial intelligence threatens the public relations and as robots have no feelings, they do not need to be convinced or addressed and maybe in the future, there might be no need for public relations at all. In addition, as artificial intelligence can record everything in seconds, has an unlimited amount of memory, can cut and paste images in its own mind and create fiction, and it could eliminate the cinema. In the context of public relations, Baltacı discussed what public relations practitioners could do in the stage of accepting or rejecting artificial intelligence. Noting that a new technology should be accepted by the society, public relations can play an important role in the adoption phase.
At the end of the question and answer section, the Department of Public Relations and Publicity Faculty Member Assistant Professor Dr. İpek Sucu handed a certificate of appreciation to Adem Baltacı.
