Purpose of Department

The primary objective of the Department of Translation and Interpreting (English) is to provide students with advanced language proficiency and comprehensive skills in both written and oral translation. The program goes beyond linguistic transfer, emphasizing cultural awareness and the ability to interpret and mediate between different cultural contexts.

Target of Department

The program aims to provide students with both academic and professional qualifications. Key goals include proficiency in translation theory and practice, interpreting techniques, terminology management, and effective use of computer-assisted translation tools. The program also encourages interdisciplinary thinking, preparing students to become effective language professionals in global communication networks.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the program have a wide range of career opportunities. They may work in governmental institutions (e.g., the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union institutions), international organizations, translation agencies, publishing houses, media companies, or the private sector. Many also pursue freelance translation or interpreting. Those interested in academia may continue with graduate and doctoral studies in related fields.
