 EMDR courses will be held at the University

In collaboration with ZioN Psychiatry Academy, Boğaziçi Mental Health Association and Istanbul Gelisim University, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training will take place in the Master of Clinical Psychology program.
EMDR instructor Psychiatry Expert Assistant Professor Dr. Onur Okan Demirci spoke about the EMDR trainings, which will be included in a University’s clinical psychology masters program for the first time in the world: “As a result of the academic and scientific research we have been carrying out for years, we are delighted to have the EMDR method added to the Clinical Psychology Master's program with the approval of the Higher Education Council (YÖK). Together with the EMDR trainings it will be possible to train more powerful and sufficient clinical psychologists.”

EMDR instructor Demirci said: “The EMDR method is a method of psychotherapy known as 'Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing'. By using the EMDR method in psychology, a step towards quality development was taken. EMDR method can be applied in many challenging psychiatric and psychological disorders for treatment purposes.”

Psychiatry Expert and EMDR instructor Dr. Demirci said that they have concluded various EMDR trainings until today and contributed for the improvement of mental health of many people and he expressed that they want to carry out more scientific research in order to disseminate the EMDR method and carry it further.

Dr. Demirci continued: “EMDR method is a very new psychotherapy technique in Turkey. And we are proud to be able to teach it with the approval of Higher Education Council.”

Demirci continued: “EMDR trainings will not only be taught theoretically. We support psychology students and mental health practitioners with clinical practice and supervision assistance we provide. We will continue to support the EMDR trainings and implementations in the next process, and we will carry them to the best points.”

Dr. Demirci said that the application quotas for EMDR trainings in Clinical Psychology program will be determined very soon. He also stated that preliminary interviews and interviews will be held for EMDR training program and candidates for clinical psychologists who meet the required criteria will be included. Dr. Demirci emphasized that everyone should work together for a better future, better living standards and better mental health and he completed his speech by saying: “It is our greatest wish to be together in many quality trainings for the future of our existence”.
