Democrats Presented a Draft of Trump’s impeachment for "Inciting Insurgency"

Democratic congressmen have released a draft resolution to launch impeachment proceedings against Trump for "inciting insurgency." They believe that the president's statements led to the riots in Washington and the storming of the Capitol.

The Delegates of the US House of Representatives from the Democratic Party presented a draft resolution on the launch of the impeachment procedure of the current President of the country, Donald Trump. The document was published by CNN and The Washington Post.

In the document, the Democrats accused Trump of "inciting mutiny." They demanded to dismiss the incumbent president and ban him from running again in the presidential elections.

"He [Trump] deliberately made statements that encouraged and predictably led to the inevitable chaos in the Capitol," the document says.

Trump's behavior on the day of the unrest in Washington on January 6 was on par with his past efforts to "undermine and obstruct the approval of presidential election results," the draft states. Among such actions, the Democrats named Trump's call to the Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in which the head of state allegedly called on the state authorities to "find" the 11 thousand votes he needed to win the race.

In the conversation, fragments of which were published by The Washington Post, the president reiterated that the elections were flawed, calling it a "criminal offense." Trump suggested that if Raffensperger did not "find" the right votes, he would be prosecuted. The Democrats regarded his words as a threat: they believe that in this way the president put pressure on the Secretary of State.

Earlier, Jerry Nadler, chair of the House Judiciary Committee, announced his support for the immediate impeachment of Trump and his removal from office. Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi also demanded to impeach the president. According to Pelosi, the United States has two options: either Vice President Mike Pence will use the constitutional amendment and take power into his own hands, or Congress will launch an impeachment procedure.

Demands for Trump's resignation came after the riots in Washington on the day of the US Congress session. On January 6, Congress was supposed to approve the results of the electoral college vote, according to which Democrat Joe Biden won the US presidential election. However, Trump's supporters gathered before the meeting at the Capitol and fought with the police, and then broke into the building itself. It took the security forces several hours to drive them out. The riots killed five people.

During the protests, Biden accused Trump of inciting violence. The current president, in turn, condemned the violence during the protests of his supporters and promised a peaceful transfer of power on January 20. Biden's inauguration will take place on this day.
